

Born on January 31, 1934, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of H. Rex Sprinkle and E.V. “Bid” Wilhide Sprinkle. Carolyn attended the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina and later graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Her early years and married life were marked by frequent moves, which fostered in her a lifelong love of travel. Carolyn was blessed to explore many places across the United States and abroad. While in college, she met the love of her life, Gordon McBride Sisk, Jr. They married on March 18, 1955, and shared 53 years of marriage filled with joy, adventure, and devotion until his passing in 2008.
A proud homemaker, Carolyn found fulfillment in raising her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She was a talented cook and gracious entertainer, known for her hospitality. She enjoyed many hobbies, but her greatest passion was needlework, especially stitching reproduction samplers. Her home reflected her artistry, filled with her treasured collections and accomplishments.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Laura Sprinkle Alsing and Charlotte Sprinkle Fredrick. She is survived by her son, Gordon McBride Sisk III (Sally), and her daughter, Shannon Sprinkle Sisk, both of Knoxville; granddaughters, Keely Sisk (fiancé Joey McPherson) of Kingston, TN, and Lauren Qualls (Darren) of Greenback, TN; great-grandchildren, Azriel and Clancy Qualls; brother-in-law, Robert Fredrick; nephew, Jon Fredrick; and beloved great-nieces.
Carolyn’s family will forever cherish the love, warmth, and creativity she shared throughout her life.
