

Carolynn Marie Cummings, age 65, of Knoxville, threw the half court pass to Pat Summitt on Monday, October 16, 2017 from her home arena. Carolynn loved all sports but Tennessee Vols Football and Lady Vols Basketball were her passion. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was the eldest of five siblings born to William Samuel and Hannah Spangler Cummings on June 3, 1952. She was born and raised in Knoxville where she was a 1970 graduate of Doyle High School; she managed The Pioneer Market and Deli for 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Douglas Allen Cummings. Survived by brother's Robert Edison Cummings and wife Kim; William Samuel Cummings, Jr. and wife Ida; sister Beverly Thatcher and husband Brent. Having no children of her own Carloynn spoiled her 11 nieces and nephews, numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as their many friends. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2017 at Berry Funeral Home at 3704 Chapman Hwy. with the celebration of life to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Celebrant Rick Phipps officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Berry Highland South Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Berry Funeral Home in charge.
