It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of, Charles “Chuck” Robert Clark, Age 78, on September 9, 2026. Born March 21, 1948 in Gate City (Scott County), Virginia, Chuck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, loyal friend, and proud veteran of the United States Navy and Coast Guard for 22-years. He was a 1966 graduate of Powell High School.
A decorated member of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, Chuck was a Chief Radioman who served his country with great pride. Upon his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer, he attended the Tennessee Institute of Electronics, and worked at Y12 and K25 in Oak Ridge until he retired…again. His dedication to duty was matched only by his commitment to his family and close knit friends. Beyond the uniform, Chuck, was known for being a master “tinkerer,” dad joke extraordinaire, a lover of fisheries and wildlife, and collector of items you just “might need.” He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and follower of Jesus. His grandkids will especially miss Christmas Pranks, endless reruns of the Andy Griffith Show, and sharing in his love for the movie “A Christmas Story.”
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Ulas and Annie Clark, brother, Willard “Will” Clark, and son, Martin Wesley Clark.
He leaves behind is wife of 54-years, Debra Jean Clark; sons, Rob (Patty) Clark and Scott (Erin) Clark; grandchildren, Gabe, Eli, Ashlynn, Caitlinn (Ryan) Hatchett, Tanner, and Trevor; brother, Richard (Wilma) Clark and sister, Liz (David) Palmer and other loved ones.
