

Copeland, Rev. Charles “Chuck”, age 51, of Seymour went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2011 after a long battle of liver disease. Chuck was a 1977 graduate of Seymour High School. Following graduation, he started his career at Baptist Hospital where he worked as a Cardiovascular Tech and continued to work for Mercy when the hospitals merged. Chuck served as a Youth Pastor at Galilee Baptist Church, New Hopewell Baptist Church and Norwood Baptist Church. He loved the youth ministry and had a tremendous impact on many young people’s lives. In addition to the youth ministry, Chuck also had a heart for missions. Chuck traveled the world sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting the needs of people. He was instrumental in starting an orphanage in the Dominican Republic and helped establish the Chadasha Foundation. Chuck also served as a Chaplain for the Knoxville Police Department and more recently helped with battered and abducted children. With his love for children, Chuck also was a foster parent for Child Help USA. His hobbies included camping and he loved “The Great Outdoors”. The family would like to thank his church family and the staff at Mercy St. Marys and Vanderbilt Hospital. Survivors include sisters, Martha Copeland Galyon and husband, Robert, Sabrina “Peni” Copeland Morris, Joy Daniel; nephews, Parker McCroskey and Daulton Daniel; foster brother, Steve Hall; special friends, Mark Haynes, Allan Hood and Dr. Clint Doiron. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Sevier Heights Baptist Church with a service celebrating the life of Chuck to follow at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Dwight Singleton and Chaplain Dan Hix will be officiating the service. Family and friends will meet Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sevier Heights Baptist Church to go in procession to Highland South for an 11:00 a.m. interment. Pallbearers will be Mark Haynes, Robert Galyon, Parker McCroskey, Robbie Hood, Allan Hood, Jody Cummings, Corky Carpenter and Hosie Porterfield. Honorary pallbearers will be the officers of the Knoxville Police Department. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Chadasha Foundation, P.O. Box 743, Louisville, TN 37777.
