Charlotte Anne Briscoe Scruggs, 87, passed away February 10, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Scruggs; her parents, Daniel Briscoe III and Alma Ruscoe Briscoe and her sister, May Reinboldt. She had a special love for O.B.’s son, John Kerley and his wife, Beverley. Charlotte and O. B. were married 49 years, truly in love. She was a nurse before becoming a seamstress. She was in the Twin’s Mother’s Club and an Emmaus group. She and O.B. ministered through Alcoa First United Methodist Church’s Bread of Life, Thanksgiving food deliveries and VBS. She dearly loved her Sunday school class and Sherry Wallace who styled her hair for 40 plus years. She enjoyed walking, water aerobics and Chinese food. She crocheted innumerable afghans, giving them away. She most loved Jesus Christ, and was a walking billboard for him, wearing t-shirts that read “Jesus loves you.” She spoke about Him freely until she lost her voice to a stroke. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:30am at Alcoa First United Methodist Church, entombment following at Sherwood Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
