Chester Bruce Nelson

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Chester Bruce Nelson, 74, who passed away on December 30th. 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Chester was born in Oak Ridge and resided in Knoxville the remainder of his life.

He worked for The University of Tennessee in hospitality for 30 years. The last decade of his life was working with Meals on Wheels. Chester loved to work, until mobility kept him from going. He enjoyed car rides with his "better half" of 17 years, Carolyn Howell. He was an independent soul that could argue with the best of them,

Chester was preceded in death by his parents Albert "Bill" Nelson and Ruby (Neal) Nelson, and siblings Betty Lou Nelson Daniels, John Nelson and Bruce Nelson. He is survived by his two children, Shanna Hickman and Eric Nelson; grandchildren, Kristopher Nelson, Derek Hickman, Michael Day and Aaron Nelson; siblings, Sandy Nelson, Judy Powell and Alberta Rogers.

The family will have a remembrance gathering service on Saturday, January 06, 2024, from 1:00PM - 3:00PM in the Westwood Chapel of Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 37919.
