Clair Roger Hall Knoxville, Tennessee passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Park West Hospital. Born on January 26, 1938, in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Clair H. and Leota Rolley Hall. He married Nancy E. Frost on August 21, 1959.

Roger graduated from Snow Shoe High School in 1956. He received college credits from Air Force Training. He enlisted in the Air Force in January 1957 and he retired in January 1979. At his retirement, he held the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked as an air craft electrician for a number of years. One of his favorite stories was when he was returning home from a trip and they had an electrical problem in the control panel. The pilot called on him to repair in the air as the were beyond the point of no return. None of his instruments or tools were within reach but the situation was dire and something had to be done. So, there was a hot cup in the cock pit. He removed the electrical cord from the cup and repaired the electrical short. They made it safely home. As an air craft electrician, he received several commendations, awards and medals. He transferred to the training field and he completed his military service as a training NCO in the Pentagon. He received recognitions in this field as well. After retirement he used the skills he learned in the Air Force, working at Pittman Business Equipment and the last fourteen years of employment he worked for Ellsworth Systems.

While stationed at the Pentagon, Roger became a member of the Tyson Corner Hosts Lions Club. When he retired, he transferred his membership to the West Knox Lions Club. As a member, he was very active in projects particularly the KidSight program where he and other Lions tested the eyes of children in day care. He was club treasurer for several years and was club president. He served on a number of different committees. He was the recipient of a Melvin Jones Fellowship and a Lindsey/Jennings Fellowship.

Roger was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Bluegrass. He enjoyed his service to the Lord. He served as Finance Committee Chairman, a member of the Board of Trustees, Senior Adult Ministry Chairman, Shut-in Visitation Committee, and Sunday School Superintendent. He didn’t hesitate to give someone a hand up. He believed if he had done what he was supposed to do then he wasn’t responsible for what recipients did.

He was supportive of his family. He coached little league football and was an Assistant Scout Master when the boys were in Scouts. He worked with the band parents when the boys were in band. He attended soccer games when the girls played soccer. He attended the girls’ basketball games. He was a proud dad and the light of his life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy and three children; Jeffery L. Hall, Maryville, Tennessee, Keith L. Hall and his wife, Tara, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Patricia Haley, Crossville, Tennessee. Also, surviving are two brothers, Richard and Thomas Hall of Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania and sister-in-law’s, Jenny M. Hall of Snow Shoe and Irene L. Moss of Franklin, Tennessee.
