“Well done my good and faithful servant,” are the words that Clarence Nelson Ogle heard as he entered the golden gates of heaven on November 5th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earley and Cecil (Brackins) Ogle, his brothers Charles and Claude Ogle, his sisters, Ruth McMahan and Evelyn Lampkin, his great-grandchildren, Nicklaus DeGroot, Elijah Gossett, and 5 angel babies.
Clarence was known as Papaw to everyone. Even if they weren’t his family, everyone called him their Papaw. He loved Jesus and his family. For many years he drove the church bus for Seymour Community Church, where he was a founding member, bringing multitudes of children in to learn about the love of Jesus Christ. He was a faithful head mechanic at Levi’s for many years where he worked alongside his wife Sue (Janice) Ogle. Sue was the love of his life. While he suffered from severe Alzheimer’s, the only person he remembered was his Sue. They were married for 67 wonderful years. Clarence and Sue had two children together, Debbie (Roger) Hurst and Terri (Steve) Gibson. Four grandchildren, Misti (Todd) DeGroot, Derrick (Misty) Gibson, Dustin (Rebecca) Gibson, and Adam (Shelly) Gossett. Ten great-grandchildren Emma, Benjamin, Lauralai, and Preston DeGroot, Hunter and Abby Gibson, Adley, Uriah, Oaklyn, and Abner Gossett, and one honorary grandchild, McKinnley Osborne. He is also survived by his sisters, Mildred (John Dale) Williams, Helen Thomas, and Brenda (Sam) Caughron. Clarence was the most giving person you have ever met, but he was also the most stubborn. He would light up any room with his humor and contagious smile. He is the kind of person that once you meet you will never forget. He will be so very missed .
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Ellie, Katie, and Noah at StoryPoint Memory Care for the amazing care and compassion shown during the time Clarence was in their care.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Seymour Community Church with a funeral to follow. Graveside Service will be on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Berry Highland South Funeral Home. Officiated by Rev. Patrick Koster and Rev. Roger Hurst.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Seymour Community Christian School 994 S. Old Sevierville Seymour TN 37865.
