Claudine Marshall Harding, age 96 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born February 22, 1927 to Isaac and Pearl Marshall in Meadows of Dan, VA. She was the second born of their five children.
Claudine married Raymond Lewis Harding, Jr. on March 28, 1953 in Danville, VA. Their first Port of Call was San Diego, CA, followed by Charleston, SC, St. Albans, NY and Jacksonville, FL. Each of which she had one of her four sons. The family was transferred to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1962. There, she had a job at the bank and as a cashier at a seafood restaurant. In 1965 the family was transferred to Knoxville, TN. Claudine took on a clerical position at Sears Robuck Co., and later went on to work at New Ear Hearing Aids until she opened her own hearing aid business. She did volunteer work for KPD and The American Red Cross. She was a talented cook and had won first place for her Avocado, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich. She also took first place in the 1985 Knoxville Zoos Little Diamond Cake contest. Claudine was a member of the Eastern Star.
Claudine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Raymond L. Harding, Jr.; sons: Robin David Ray Harding, Christopher Wayne Harding, and Michael Jamie Harding; parents, Isaac Webb and Pearl Light Marshall; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond Lewis, Sr. and Irene Hall Harding; brothers: Marvin, Billy, and Ronnie Marshall; sister, Bonnie Moore; sisters-in-law: Stella Marshall, Dot Marshall, Laura Jane Harding, Shirley Slakey; brothers-in-law: John Moore, Jerry West and Buddy Slakey.
She is survived by her son, Brian Harding; granddaughter, Kayla Harding; and great-grandson, Jaxtyn Harding; sisters-in-law, Margaret Marshall and Brenda West; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM for a 1:00 PM interment Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Dr, Knoxville, TN 37918. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
