Clay was married to Opal (Massey)Branch for 64 years, a steadfast partnership marked by devotion and constancy. In the life he built and the example he set, Clay was known for the steady strength of a hard-working man, the quiet assurance of honesty, and a loyalty that could be counted on without question. His wisdom was often expressed not in grand speeches, but in measured judgment, practical skill, and the calm steadiness of someone who understood what truly mattered.
Clay found deep enjoyment in the simple, lasting pleasures of time outdoors and time together. He loved to fish, valued family outings, and was an all-around do-it-yourself man—resourceful, capable, and dependable in the ways that turn a house into a home and challenges into solvable tasks. His stoic, self-controlled nature gave him a composed presence, and those who knew him recognized a man who carried himself with quiet dignity.
He also gave of himself to his community as a charter member of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Dept., serving with the same reliability and commitment that shaped every part of his life.
Clay is survived by his daughters, Tammy Goddard and Tracy Branch; his grandson, Wesley Henry; and his great grandsons, Dylan Henry, Hiram Clark-Henry, Emett Clark-Henry. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucille Smelcer, Nancy Whaley, Irene Ownby (Charles); and his brother, Fred Branch (June).
