On Thursday, January, 22, 2021, Dick Bales passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 84. He was born on July 20, 1936. He was a graduate of Knoxville East High School. He attended the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Bales was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as the Finance Director.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James White and Stellen Conner and Sally and Fred Bales. Parents, Jama Conner Bales and Clyde Coile Bales.
Survivors include his sister, Phyllis (Charlie) Severance, step-daughter Kelly O’Fallon and step-son, Jim (Jimbo) O’Fallon. Nephews: Chuck (Kim) Severance, Marcus (Jamie) Severance and Michael (Robin) Severance. Longtime companion, Patty Watkins and lifelong friend Walter Wise. Great nephews, Hagan, Ben, Wyatt, Michael and Gabriel Severance and step-great nephews, Connor and Garrett Sepesi.
Mr. Bales was in the Commercial Real Estate business for 43 years, receiving many honors and rewards. In 1982 he started the Commercial Division of Volunteer Realty which is now Coldwell Banker-Wallace and Wallace. He is a Veteran of the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Eustus, Virginia and Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
