Cola LaVern Edwards

Edwards, Cola LaVern (Vern), 87, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Vern is retired from TVA with over 30 years of service. He was a member of West End Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon earlier in his life, and was a friend to everyone. Vern served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Tennessee where he was Vice President of the U.T. National Alumni Association and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and was a true Christian gentleman who was the sweetest and kindest, most respectful and humble man we knew. Vern is preceded in death by parents; Cola Chattham, and Ina Louise Reynolds Edwards. He is survived by wife of 66 years, Adelyn Oneida (Cathey) Edwards; son, Matthew Cathey Edwards; 2 grandchildren, Becca Edwards Kelly (Ryan) and Cole Edwards (Joy) ; great grandchildren; Mason and Olivia Kelly, Bodie and Kellen Edwards; sisters, Joan Ussery (Bill) and Nancy Edwards; brother, Jim Edwards cousins; Teresa Rollings, Eddie Stone, Tom and Neil Edwards; several nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law Sherri, and numerous friends. Family will receive friends Saturday December 5, 2015 from 5-8pm at West End Church of Christ with a visitation at 12:30pm on Sunday December 6, 2015 with a service to follow at 2pm at West End Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery with Minister Wayne Miller officiating
