Anderson, Sr., Curtis L. born September 4, 1936, residing in Knoxville, Tennessee, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 74, on Friday, September 10, 2010. Curtis attended Stair Tech High School and was owner-operator of South Knoxville Home Improvement. He was an active member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church; previous president of the South Knoxville Republican Club, served on the tax board of equalization and worked for the Knox County Election Commission. In the year 2000 he was awarded “Republican of the Year” by the National Republican Congressional Committee for his exceptional dedication. He was preceded in death by his parents Willet D. Anderson and Illa Smith-Reeves, and his brother, Arthur A. Anderson. Survivors are his loving wife of 55 years, Agnes P. Anderson; children: Melinda Anderson-Nelson and Curtis L. Anderson, Jr.; grandchildren: Courtney (Chris) Nelson-Breeden, Shawn T. Nelson and Ashley N. Anderson; brother, Gary W. (Sandra) Reeves; sisters Jackie (Jack) Anderson-Bowlin and Brenda Reeves-White; many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at UT Medical Critical Care Unit for their love and support. Curtis will be greatly missed by his family and the many people that had the pleasure of calling him a true friend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Curtis’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 1615 Price Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Hillcrest United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Richard Richter and Pastor Pat Polis officiating. Family and friends will meet at Highland South Cemetery at 10:30 Wednesday for interment services. Honorary pallbearers will be L.C.
