Dad or Guy-ya as he was affectionately named by his only grandson Truman, who passed late last year, leaves mom Sharon Melton after 64 years of marriage.
Staring at the mirrors of life reflection I see great memories of dad considering myself so fortunate to have the stable backstop of love and support which great parents provide even though as an only child, receiving full radar I had the occasional needed kick upwards in the backside.
I reflect on their marriage running the gauntlet of life's trials and tribulations. Throughout their union beginning from Guy-ya hiding behind his Mom's skirts with Sharon chasing in hook mode at the elder age of 5. Knowing this was her guy; to the inseparable bond where either would start fussing after a lengthy two hours apart.
Mom dragged Dad thru College with both achieving PHD degrees followed by distinguished careers as College Professors at the University of Tennessee.
There is hurt seeing my mother lose her soul mate. In the end I know he was spared from the full ravages of evil which takes a little part each day from a lot of our fellow elderly.
I can only say Dad and Mom. I love you!
Curtis is survived by his wife, Sharon Taylor Melton; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Juvy Melton; brother, Don Melton and sister, Cheryl Melton.
