Cynthia Lou Barbour

Cynthia was a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Miami, Florida, where she trained as a chef. She went on to build a successful career in the Atlanta, Georgia area, where she was known for her culinary talents, catering, and event planning. Later in life, she returned to her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, to lovingly care for her parents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha H. "Peggy" Barbour; her sister, Nancy Barbour; and her brother, Burk Barbour. Along with her beloved cat Jumbie.

Cynthia is survived by her sister, Marty Cox, and brother-in-law, John Cox; and her beloved nieces, Alison Whitehouse (Alan), Catherine Whitis (Chris), and Jessica Barbour-Bright (Josh), along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Cynthia's kindness, generous spirit, and love for bringing people together through food and hospitality touched the lives of many. She will be remembered with great love and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11am.
