

Sherrod, Dan F. age 90, of Knoxville, passed away May 1, 2012 at LeConte Medical Center. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the United State Marine Corp in South Africa. Dan retired from Texaco, Inc. after 25 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Lona Vera Sherrod; brother, Herbert Jr.; sisters, Peggy Perry and Joan Johnson. Survived by wife of 66 years, Maureen Joan Sherrod; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sissy Sherrod; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jeff Burkhart; grandchildren, Kelly Mynatt and husband, David, Jason Sherrod and wife, Amanda, Corey Burkhart, Wes Burkhart; great-grandchildren, Jake, Gabe, Luke, Mackenzie and Avery; brothers, Fred Sherrod and H.E. Sherrod; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at Asbury Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service on Friday, May 4, 2012, Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy., on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 5-7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jason Sherrod, Corey Burkhart, Wes Burkhart, David Mynatt, Sr., David Mynatt, Jr. and Michael Watson.
