Obituary of Daniel Clifford Britton

IN THE CARE OF

Berry Funeral Home

Daniel Clifford Britton, age 34, of Maryville, Tennessee went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughter, Ally, and the absolute greatest passion of his life was loving and doting on her. He was a dedicated son to his parents, and a friend to his siblings. Daniel enjoyed spending his time creating, playing, and listening to music, as well as fishing, spoiling Ally, playing and watching sports of all kinds, cheering on the VOLs, and time with his family. Daniel loved the Lord and had a strong desire to help others. He found peace in Jesus and especially loved music that pointed to Him. He once said, “all I want is to minister to the people that I know. The broken, the hurt, the down trodden, just like me. The ones that had their life taken away, in bondage, looking for Jesus.” Daniel was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran who deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2010 - June 2011. He was incredibly patriotic and had a deep love for the country he served. He was a 2006 graduate from Temple Baptist Academy in Powell, TN, and went on to attend the University of Tennessee where he participated in the Army ROTC Program, prior to his active duty enlistment in the U.S. Army as an 11B infantryman. He completed both basic and infantry training, and later earned his Air Assault wings at Ft. Benning, GA. Daniel earned multiple awards and commendations during his service, including: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (second award), Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and Combat Infantryman Badge. To quote one of Daniel's commanding officers, "You are one of my best young sergeants." Upon completion of his active duty commitment, Daniel came back home to Knoxville, TN where he started his civilian career and earned his bachelor’s degree from Tusculum University. Shortly afterwards, he entered into a 5 year Electrician Apprentice Program. Daniel was 4 years into that program at the time of passing. Preceded in death by his father, Barry Joe Britton, Sr. Daniel leaves behind his adored daughter, Alyssa Taylor "Ally" Britton; mother, Midge Elise Britton; siblings: Lisa Michelle Kitchen (Robert), Sarah Anne Patton (Patrick), Mary Rebekah Bohman (Gary), Rachel Elise Swartz (Luke), Barry Joe Britton, Jr., David John Britton (Katie), Jessica Lynn Johnson (Tim); close friend like a brother, Ryan Hudson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
