

Daniel "Danny" Martin Brown, 64, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on November 18, 2024. Born on December 21, 1959 in Knoxville, Danny grew up with a profound love for music, a passion that shaped his remarkable life and legacy. A 1977 graduate of Farragut High School, he began teaching guitar and banjo lessons at just 17 years old, opening a teaching studio in Harriman where he shared his gifts with young musicians.
Danny’s musical journey was extraordinary. In his early 20’s he opened his first recording studio in the basement of his parents’ home, where he served as owner, engineer, song writer, and producer. Prior to opening his first recording studio he was well known for playing in bands such as: The Brotherhood Band, Voices, & Cooter Daniel & Southern Style. Danny was a versatile musician who played various instruments, including acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, pedal steel, and also contributed vocals. In 1993, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by building and founding Southern Sound Studios. Among his many accomplishments, Danny had the privilege of working with legendary artists, including Dolly Parton.
A gifted musician and songwriter, Danny’s talent spanned genres from gospel and country to bluegrass, rock, and jazz. He later brought his expertise to Rio Revolution Church in Maryville, where he served as sound engineer, combining his deep faith and musical skills in service to God and his community.
Danny is survived by his beloved mother, Margaret Parrish Brown (Maggie); his cherished children, McKenzie and Eli; and his dear sister, Dr. Deborah Elise Brown. He is reunited in eternal rest with his father, Dr. Daniel G. Brown; his sister, Angela Brown; and his infant son, Trevor Brown. He will be remembered as a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a man of unwavering faith. He found joy in music, his family, and his relationship with God, touching countless lives with his talent, kindness, and generosity.
A service to honor his life will be held at Rio Revolution Church located at 3419 E Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville, Tennessee, on December 2, 2024, with receiving of friends from 5-7 PM, followed by the service at 7 PM. Burial will take place on December 3, 2024, at 3 PM at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family welcomes all who wish to celebrate his life and legacy.
