Darlene Josephine Clark

Darlene Josephine Clark, 65, passed away on October 25, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. Darlene was the baby girl of 11 children, surrounded from the very beginning by the lively love of 4 sisters and 6 brothers, a family circle that helped shape her gentle spirit, thoughtful ways, and the warm humor so many came to cherish.

A devoted wife and mother, Darlene met Angelo Clark in Chicago 41 years ago, and together they began building a life rooted in steady love and shared hope. They were married on February 12, 1995. In 2008, Darlene and Angelo moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, and in time made their home in Louisville. Through every season, Darlene’s compassion and devotion were constant, most especially in the deep love she carried for her son, Ramone Smith.

Darlene’s faith mattered to her, and her church-going heart reflected itself in the way she showed up for others: with quiet care, a listening ear, and a spirit that lifted rooms without ever asking to be noticed. She had a way of making people feel seen, offering encouragement that felt natural, sincere, and lasting.

She also loved exploring new things, and she delighted in sharing stories of her adventures. In her telling, everyday moments could become bright with meaning, made better by her gentle wit and the uplifting way she invited others to smile, wonder, and keep going.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, James Smith; her mother, Yvonne Lowery Smith; and her brothers, Stanley Smith and Michael Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Angelo Clark; her son, Ramone Smith; her sisters, Sheila Whitehorn, Bobie Williams, Carolyn Williams, and Jean Smith; and her brothers, Leroy Haggard, Jerry Smith, Mark Smith, and Marcel Smith.

Darlene will be laid to rest at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, 7916 Pedigo Rd, Knoxville.

As her sister Sheila said, “She will be so missed,” and yet her cherished presence, so compassionate, devoted, and inspiring, will continue to be remembered with gratitude and love.
