I am so sorry to hear about David's passing. I considered us friends. He helped me on many of my projects over the years. I would call him probably to often to get his advice, he was always willing to help. He was good and interesting man. I am honored to have known him.

It’s been weeks since your passing and I’ve finally wiped my tears and got the courage to write something. David Kerns you were a treasure! You started as a laid back sometimes intense employer (lol) and ended as family. I learned so much from you from pulling permits to advice on handling single parenthood. I admired you in so many ways especially as a family man. Our conversations about your love and respect for Nancy, how proud you were of Charli and Meryl and the joy Kendall brought to you were some of the best topics. You’re definitely missed! 

Until we see each other again, be at rest.

Nancy.... I'm sorry to hear that David passed. We never met but he was a fighter. Everything that was thrown at him he fought back. When he came into your life your happiness was very evident. I know you will treasure all your memories. Please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you and your family. ❤️

his wife was overwhelmed by how many people
were drawn to him in the passing,
people he had touched, who remembered his gifts,
and treasured this big-hearted man,
who saw them, who knew them,
who connected so freely and lovingly with them,

his brain was as impressive as his heart:
two master's degrees, including one in economics,
loving to read, loving to think,
loving to figure how to help,
a dry sense of humor,
a jack of all trades,
not one who would fall for being fooled,
hesitant to use words rather than actions
to express his heart,
but when a grandchild called for "Pop Pop,"
he was there and smitten,

his will a power upon the world:
he fell, and broke three bones in each foot,
and did not pay money he did not have for the doctor,
instead, taping it up, and persevering,

when the cancer came and came at him,
he endured, he persevered, until he couldn't,

when he was in Alaska, 
he was told not to go by himself into the woods,
so, of course, he did,
and shared the world with a grizzly, but not an ending,

most of us would never cross him,
only cancer got away with it,

there was a wonder to David,
if you knew him, you are better off for that knowing.

I hope my message won't sound too clumsy. You are all going through a difficult time, and I would like to write something very special and personal to give you comfort, and to help you cope with the situation.
Still, it's not easy to find the right words, all the more as I'm not an English native speaker. 

As I already told Meryl, I feel a kind of emptiness. David and I, we were close, despite the distance and even though we hadn't communicated for a long time. I knew he was desperately ill but somehow, I had hoped for a miracle. 

I was glad that we remained in touch even after his divorce. 
And I was happy to have a brother-in-law like him!  

Finally, I would like to add that also my Dad was very fond of David. You should know that "Willi" was rather an unsociable person who didn't like many people. I mean REALLY like. But David was one of them!

My thoughts are with all of you.

My sincerest condolences to the David’s family. Praying that the Holy Spirit gets you through this time grief. Dave was a good man, I had the privilege to serve with him through Air Force tech school and then we both were stationed at MAFB for our first duty assignment. May God’s love and peace surround you.

Condolences to David's family. David was a good friend the three years I lived in New Jersey when we were in 8th-10th grades at Lumberton and RVRHS. We did various activities together and both became pool lifeguards before I moved back to Florida. On a Sunday in May 2018 he surprised me by showing up at my front door and we had a chance to catch up on each other's lives before he drove Monday morning to Mayo Clinic.

Dear Nancy, please accept my most sincere condolences. Praising God who gave life to this vibrant man, and gave you a loving life together. Well done, good and faithful servant! Love, joby

Kerns Family, 
I have known David for almost all my life. My dad and Dave worked together for a long time. When I think of my interactions with David: when I would visit them at work, or we’d go to his house for materials, I remember he liked to tease me. He was funny. He always reminded me that when I grew up I needed to study hard and be a hardworking person; a sentiment I can tell he shared with his own family. In a box of stuffed animals I have stored there is a big, pink, and fluffy bunny. I got this bunny from David when I was sick and he visited me at the hospital. When I look at this stuffed animal again I will remember David and his kindness and I will remember to pray for his family.

To Nancy and the entire Kerns family, I send my deepest expressions of sympathy at the passing of your husband. I pray that you find comfort in these words: May the Holy Comforter be with you every moment of every day. May the peace and strength that you need be felt deeply and may you be reminded of the joyful blessings you shared with your husband and find peace in that place.

We are the Bareiszis family ,Dave spent many hours at our home . He was close to my sons & daughter.  Dave & my sons , did a lot of things together. Especially fixing cars. Funny thing Dave always knew where all the cookies were kept. The first thing he did when he came in was find the cookies. That was one of my fond memories

Nancy, you spoke so highly of him and took such good care of him. Prayers for you and your family!

I will miss him dearly. I remember going to his home in Mount Holly, New Jersey as a child and him a teenager and running around in the yard he was teaching tennis and I remember saying to him just hit it to me like you do the other people… And oh my goodness did he ever flew right by my head and we laughed.. we  as a family spent every weekend together? Then when he moved to Tennessee with aunt Midge it was hard for us as a family and my mom… But we did come out there to visit and he gave us the best time. He made sure my kids were comfortable he took us site seeing, we went swimming in his pool we bbq. he took me to a country bar, and it was amazing. That will be my memory with him is two stepping around the bar. love you God bless you say hi to my brothers David.
