Born on October 9, 1941, in LaFollette, TN, Deany dearly loved the Lord, her family, and her friends, and was a member of the West End Church of Christ. She found joy in the simple moments of life and was a source of kindness and encouragement to all who knew her. She especially loved the arts (writing, reading, movies, and drawing), expressing her creativity through beautiful artwork, heartfelt poems, thought-provoking conversations, and storytelling that brought happiness to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lucas Woods and Lola Mae Burns Woods; and her siblings, Charles William Woods, Betty Jean Cooper, Wanda Lee Mowell, Shirley Dean Woods, Lola Dean Wilson, and John Huey Woods.
She is survived by her beloved son, Adam Newcomb, and his wife, Rebekah. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jared, Jennifer, Jacob, and Julia Newcomb, as well as a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to many, all of whom she adored.
Deany’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Highway, Knoxville, TN 37924, on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Caledonia Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7817 N. Ruggles Ferry Pike, Knoxville, TN 37924.
