Debra was a second mom to me at Fort Knox. Her daughter, April, was my best friend and tho the Army May have taken us away from each other, I will never forget running in and out of her house and being asked, “am I air conditioning the neighborhood?”. Some of my fondest childhood memories were spent with April and her mom, Debra. Rest In Peace Angel and know that you will never be forgotten.

PS: yes it was always us stealing the salami to eat in our “club” 😂

I remember Debbie being so kind and sweet to me in 1968 when I started at South High School. We had slumber parties at Sara Proffitt's house and walked around south Knoxville in the wee hours of the morning, thinking we were so smart and sneaky. Debbie always had that welcoming, loving smile. Bobby, may you find joy in the wonderful, funny memories we have of your wife. God bless you and your family, and may our dear Lord surround you with His peace.

Diane, my heart goes out to you for the heartbreaking loss of your oldest sister. The Emert family has been such a big part of my life since I was a youngster, and you’re like my own family. I haven’t seen Debbie since those early years and after high school. She always had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes that made you wonder what she was going to do next. Strong and independent and full of life, like all of her siblings. My deepest condolences to Bobby, Diane, Soni-Gayle, Kay, Laura, Junior, and Billy, and their children and grandchildren, and all of their family members and friends. I love you all. Rest In Peace, Debbie, forever in the arms of the angels.

She was always smiling and had a sense of humor that she made me laugh. She has been in the family for many years. I will miss her. She will be missed by others. She gained her wings and at peace.
