

Hubbs, Derrell Lee, age 70, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly August 2, 2011 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. Derrell graduated from Young High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served his country overseas for a while also. Derrell owned Hubbs Heavy Equipment Parts and Services and was under contract with Asarco Mines before his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents Jake Hubbs and Ruth Rudder. He is survive d by his loving wife of 30 years, Janna Salley Hubbs; daughters, Logan Hubbs, Diana Barton and husband Skip Barton, Derrah McMillan and husband Carl McMillan; grandchildren Derran Hubbs, Danielle Beeler, and Dawson McMillan. He also left nieces and nephews behind. Derrell was a loving and devoted husband, father and son-in-law. He was a constant friend and helper to neighbors and friends in his community, and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. His dogs Buddy and Bam were his constant companions and provided great enjoyment to him. He always kept himself busy with tedious tasks even until a few hours before he passed. He loved his family very much, and they loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat For Humanity. Family and friends will meet at the Rotunda at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Monday at 1:30 PM for graveside services, Rev. James McTyre officiating.
