Diane Evelyn Seffernick, 85, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on May 23, 2026. Born October 10, 1940, in Jackson, Michigan. Diane built a life marked by steady devotion to family, faith, and the quiet, enduring work of caring for others.
Diane attended St. Stanislaus Kostka Elementary school and graduated from Jackson High School in 1958. She went on to St. Joseph's School of Nursing, graduating in 1961—an early expression of the purpose and discipline that would guide her for decades. She enjoyed a nursing career until 2007 and served as a labor and delivery nurse, a role that reflected her deep tenderness and lifelong affection for babies.
In 1962, Diane married Robert Seffernick. In 1973, they moved to Knoxville, where she continued to shape a home defined by steadfast love, her devotion to her Catholic faith, thoughtful presence, and a sincere commitment to those around her.
Diane found joy in reading and in the simple wonders that made life brighter—travel adventures, butterflies, and Dollywood among them. Above all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to sit in the mountains, drawn to their calm beauty and the peace they offered.
Her faith and community ties were central to her life. Diane belonged to Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was involved in many church activities and groups, including Ladies of Charity and St. Michael's Guild. She attended The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She also gave her time and care through involvement in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, offering steady guidance and encouragement to young lives.
Diane was preceded by her parents, John and Mary Nastally; son, Robert Thomas Seffernick, Jr.; brothers, John, Bob and Bill Nastally; sister, Jean Bietelschies.
