Dickie grew up in the Sykes community of Smith County, Tennessee, and graduated from Gordonsville High School in 1965, where he played football. After graduation, he spent a short time attending Middle Tennessee State University before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Dickie proudly served his country for four years, including one year in Vietnam and three years stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
Following his military service, Dickie moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he began what would become a nearly 40-year career with Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company. It was there that he met Janice Lee Roland, the woman who would become the love of his life. Dickie and Janice were married on July 22, 1974, and shared more than 48 years of marriage before her passing in December 2022. Together they built their life and raised their family in Knoxville, the city Dickie would call home for more than five decades.
Dickie grew up attending Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and, during his many years in Knoxville, was a member of the West End Church of Christ. He was a flight instructor, an avid runner and boater, and a devoted supporter of University of Tennessee athletics, especially Tennessee football.
Above all, Dickie cherished his family and the life he and Janice built together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, veteran, and friend. After more than 48 years of marriage and nearly four years apart, there is comfort in knowing that Dickie and his Janice Lee are together again.
Dickie was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Reasonover; mother, Jean Reasonover; and his beloved wife, Janice Reasonover.
He is survived by his children, Scott Reasonover of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jeanna Sheets (Rob) of Maryville, Tennessee, and Darrien Reasonover of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandson, Preston Reasonover; brother, Kerry Dale Reasonover of Gordonsville, Tennessee; sister, Jan Reasonover (Mike Binkley) of Carthage Tennessee; and many other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at West End Church of Christ, 8301 East Walker Springs Lane, Knoxville, TN 37923. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, where Dickie will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Janice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
