Donald Ray "Pops" Monday, Sr.

Donald Ray "Pops" Monday Sr. of Knoxville, TN was born on July 22, 1935 and passed away October 5, 2021 in the arms of the love of his life — his wife of 64 years. He was a lifelong resident of South Knoxville and a devoted family man. After graduating from Young High School in 1954, Don worked as a mechanic at Sears for 30 years and was a lifelong fisherman. He was a member of New Salem Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge 763 F & AM.

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Monday Jr., and his parents, Jack and Lois Monday.

He is survived by his wife Sarah Faye; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Martha Monday; grandchildren, Travis (Rachel), Jessica, Zachary (Sara), Joshua, Salem, Eden, Amos, and Donald Ray III Monday, Chris (Katrina) Harper, and Marisol (Corey) Upchurch; great-grandchildren, Blake Knott, Elijah and Harper Monday, Levi Monday, Eleanor Monday, Liam and Athena Harper and Theodore Upchurch and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Visitation will be at Berry Funeral Home chapel Sunday, October 10 from 1 PM until 3 PM. A brief Masonic service will be held at 3 PM in the chapel followed by a funeral service. Martin Ammons will be officiating. Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed in procession to Mount Olive Cemetery for the interment service.
