Don, beloved husband, father, and “Papa,” dearly loved his wife, Carol, whom he was married to for 55 years, his three children, and nine grandchildren. Don was born in Knoxville and graduated from Young High School and Carson Newman College. He began his career with the U.S. Border Patrol in San Diego, California, where he met his wife. After retiring from 28 years of service with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Don loved traveling across the country with his wife in their motorhome and working on his family farm. Don loved the outdoors and hunting deer, pheasant, and anything that bothered his garden or bird feeders. Don never met a stranger, and was always eager to help his neighbors. Don served at his local church throughout his life including Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, Temple City Baptist Church in California, Parma Heights Baptist Church, in Ohio, Woodland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, First Baptist Sevierville, and Seymour First Baptist.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Absure and Eleanor “Toots” Rogers, and sister, Brenda Stohler Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Rogers; his son, Kirt Rogers and wife Kimberly Rogers, along with their children Anna, Ian, and Owen Rogers; his daughter, Donna Williams and husband Scott Williams, along with their children Cooper, Shelby, and Calum Williams; his son Kenneth Rogers, and wife Heather Rogers, along with their children Becca, Fischer, and Willow Rogers. He is also survived by his cousins, Yvonne (Ed) Piercy, Ann Broome, Ronnie (Pam) Rogers, Lisa (Mark) Stallard, Gayle and Judith Roach.
