Doris Dolline Seal Baer died peacefully June 29, 2021 at Prosperity Pointe Assisted Living in Knoxville. She was born March 8, 1927 in Athens, Georgia to Wintford and Lexa Seal. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Baer and their daughter Toni Baer. She leaves her sons Michael (Cindy) Baer and Scott (Wanda) Baer, granddaughters Amy (Clay) Crabb and Susannah (Michael) McKearin, grandson Robert Baer, seven great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and grand-nieces.
Mrs. Baer grew up in Mississippi and Alabama during the Great Depression and took part in the war effort at home, while her husband fought in the Air War over Europe. She spent her most productive years caring for her handicapped daughter. Despite that monumental task, she still managed to raise two boys, often single-handedly, while her husband worked out of town. She was a woman of great faith in Christ, a devoted student of the Bible and a prayer warrior, whose prayers followed missionaries around the globe. She was a member of West Park Baptist Church.
Visitation is Friday, July 2 from 11:30 to 12:30 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with services at 1:00 at the outdoor chapel at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at Lyons View.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the loving staff of Prosperity Pointe and Amedisys, whose care for her in her last four years far exceeded expectation.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Knox Area Rescue Ministries https://karm.org.
