Doris was born March 22, 1934, in Evansville, IN, the child of Maude (Puckett) and Frank Holt. After graduating from Bosse High School in 1951, she worked at Citizen’s Bank briefly and then became a stay-at-home mother to raise her two children, Lisa and Kevin. In later years, she helped her husband run their small business, Multi Products, Inc., until she and Robert retired in July 2008. She enjoyed gardening and travelling to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. She was an active member of Salem Church of Darmstadt in Darmstadt, Indiana. In addition, she absolutely loved playing tennis. She organized and played in numerous tennis events in Evansville and made so many good friends on the tennis court.
Her husband of 53 years, Robert, passed away in 2009, and Doris moved to Tennessee in 2016 to live at The Lantern in Lenoir City and subsequently Shannondale/Legacy Park Health and Rehabilitation in Knoxville. Doris’ brother, William Holt, passed away in 1992. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa, of Evansville, IN; and son, Kevin and his wife Karen, of Lenoir City, TN.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at The Lantern and Shannondale/Legacy Park Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Doris and their support during her struggle with dementia.
