

Dorothy Jane Hinchey, age 94, of Knoxville, TN, peacefully entered her eternal rest at home on December 31, 2025. A beloved matriarch, Dorothy was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church for over 50 years, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many.
Dorothy cherished family trips to Dollywood and created lasting memories on countless bus tours across the country with her dear sister, Edna. She found joy in her time at the John T. O’Connor Senior Center, where she was an enthusiastic member of the Triple L Club, bringing laughter and light to all around her.
A lover of life and nature, Dorothy had a passion for cooking that brought her family together. Her renowned dumplings will forever be a cherished memory for those who had the pleasure of enjoying them.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and friendship. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her and had the privilege of calling her a friend. May her spirit continue to inspire and guide us as we remember her with fondness and gratitude.
Dorothy was greeted into the gates of Eternity by her loving husband, Paul H. Hinchey; parents, Robert J. and Nora J. Thurman; brother, Rev. James R. Thurman; sisters, Mildred E. Hubbs, Edna M. Hubbs.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Patricia Norris, Rick (Lori) Hinchey; grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Norris, Scott (Jennifer) Norris, Liana Hinchey, Chardae (Justin) Sumerall, Joshua Pridemore, MaKenze (Ty) Atteberry; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Norris, Drew Schoerner, Jay Sumerall.
Family and friends will gather to honor the life of Dorothy at Mt. Olive Cemetery, 2500 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 2:00pm, with Pastor Luke Wilson to officiate the service.
