Dorothy Jean Owens

Dorothy Jean Owens, age 86 passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. She was a member of New Beverly Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN. Dorothy enjoyed spending time researching genealogy at the East Tennessee Historical Society. She had a love for Sevier County, stemming from her ancestors Isaac and Elizabeth Thomas, some of the first settlers of Sevierville, TN. She also enjoyed fashion, was employed by San Antonio Shoe (SAS) Company, and trying new Southern foods.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lannie Owens; mother and father, Lucille and Harvey Wolfenbarger; step-father, Clarence Nall; grandparents, Lon and Mollie Lee; aunt and uncle, Julia and Jesse M. "Hogan" Byus; and Roger Houser.

Dorothy leaves behind her daughter, Betty Houser; sister-in-law, Clara Owens; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Trinity Hills Memory Care, Caris Hospice, Bradley Davis, MD, Daniel McCammon, MD, Grant Clark, MD, and Vestal Baptist Church for their love and care.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 AM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service with Reverend Eddie Myers officiating.
