Dwight Arnold Goodman was surrounded by his family when he left this world on September 2, 2024. From LaFollette, Tennessee, Dwight frequently told stories of his early adventures of being a Rocket Boy of LaFollette and a Silent Warrior in the Air Force. Dwight served in the United States Air Force in Airborne Intelligence and was a recipient of the Air Medal Meritorious due to his distinguished service. Subsequently, Dwight graduated from The University of Tennessee; while there he was a Fellow at the Oak Ridge National Lab where he participated in the development and testing of components for the Apollo 11 lunar module. After graduation, he spent his career working as an engineer for Alstom and his own company, RTC.
Dwight was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Opal Goodman of LaFollette, TN and his brother, Rodney Goodman. He is survived by his children, Carolyn (Joe) Evans of Lawrenceburg, TN, Linus (Ashlee) Goodman of Alcoa, TN, Derek (Hannah) Ratliff of Paducah, KY, and Ryan Goodman of Karns, TN; his granddaughter, Shannon (Timothy) Ray of Athens, AL; and his sisters, Becky (Jim) Gardner of Henderson, TN and Brenda McCrae of Oak Ridge, TN.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, at Weaver’s Chapel from 1:00-2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. Minister Jim Gardner will be officiating. Condolences are welcome at weaverfuneralservices.com.
