Edna Mae Butcher “Mamaw” Ellenburg, age 94 left her earthly home on July 26, 2021 to meet her heavenly father and reunite with her devoted husband, family and friends. She remained strong until the end. Preceded in death by parents, John Brown and Maggie Butcher; stepmother, Clara Butcher; husband, Earl (Weazel) Ellenburg; seven brothers, and three sisters. She came from a poor environment and at age 16, she worked for a family just so she could attend high school. She worked as a waitress and for many years at Sears, where she retired. Before having children, she and Daddy traveled through the south and worked until they made their home in Knoxville. Mother was the matriarch and the strength that held our family together. She was always a lady. She taught us to love, respect and take care of family. Survived by daughter, Connie (Rick) Hurst; sons, Eddie (Louise) Ellenburg, Greg (Susi) Ellenburg; grandchildren, Chris (Karen) Valentine, Aletha (Adam) Shadrick, Eddie Jr. (Kelly) Ellenburg; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Gabrielle, Gabe, Montana, Ava, and Emma; special niece, Trisha Shipman and also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and family who referred to her as Miss Edna or Mamaw. Family will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
