Eddie was born in Chattanooga and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and after training at Camp Lejeune, was stationed at Twenty-nine Palms, CA. The values of discipline and resilience he gained from this experience guided him through every chapter of his life.
After his service, Eddie became foreman and operator of heavy equipment, navigating challenging terrains with precision. Later, as a truck driver, he crisscrossed the highways of the United States and enjoyed the adventure.
Upon retiring, he returned to the Hulse family farm in Knoxville, that was dear to his heart, where his spirit truly bloomed. There he built a legacy of hard work and ingenuity - tending soil, nurturing crops, mowing fields, bailing hay, chopping wood, tending livestock and finding profound joy in the rhythm of the seasons. The most important part of Eddie’s time on the farm was the loving relationships he cultivated with his dear aunt Darlene and his cousins and second cousins.
Eddie was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He poured his heart into family bonds, offering guidance, laughter, wit, and the kind of steady presence that made ordinary moments unforgettable.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Edwin Thomas Hulse, Sr., and his cousin, Krista Elkins. Though he leaves no immediate survivors, his memory endures in the lives and hearts of those he touched through service, labor, and quiet acts of kindness. Eddie is survived by his mother, Ellen Hulse; brothers, David and wife Jackie, Michael, Jeff, Spencer and sisters, Kathy Trotter and Debby Nelson and husband Rick Nelson; four aunts and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eddie’s name may be made to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.
Eddie, your journey was one of grit and grace-may the fields ahead be forever green.
