
Stanberry, Eleanor Jean Irvin, age 95, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2014. She was a lifelong member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. Eleanor was a member of the 1936 graduating class of Knoxville High School and the 1940 graduating class of the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Pride of the Southland Band Volettes all four years while at UT. She was one of the founding members of the Chapman Highway Garden Club. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John B. Stanberry. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Stanberry Hunter and husband, Mike of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Theresa Ireland and husband, Dave; Marcie Smith and husband, David; and Emily Hunter Denis and husband, Marc; and great-grandchildren: Micah, Elly, Lucy, Lander, and Carling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Joy of Music School, 1209 Euclid Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37921. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 12:00 Noon at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
