Ernie was married to Rhonda Ford for 45 years, a testament to his enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and a loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his daughter, Christie Underwood (Drew), and his three grandchildren: Brody, Maddy, and Ally Underwood. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Hall (Rocky), and his brothers, Rick Ford and Dean Ford.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Iva Ford, and his brothers, Tom Ford, David Ford, and Houston Ford.
A hard-working man, Ernie was truly a jack of all trades. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, and the outdoors, and he held a special fondness for animals. His backhoe was one of his prized possessions, second only to his family, whom he loved deeply.
A visitation will be held at Berry Highland South, located at 9010 Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920, on December 19, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. With a funeral service immediately following at 7:00 pm. A graveside service will take place on December 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Garden of Baptism at Berry Highland South.
