Floyd went home to be with our Lord and Savior on August 23rd. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Hipshire, Sr.; parents, Floyd, Sr. and Annie Kate Hipshire and sister, Linda Fay Jones. Floyd is survived by his wife Joann; son, Kenneth (Teresa), daughters, Traci (Rick) Harrison and Elaine (John) Smith; daughter-in-law, Eliane Hipshire; grandchildren, Kara (Ricky) Coram, Mark Hipshire, Jr., Chris (Tabitha) Hipshire, Caitlin (Zak) Henry, Kimberly (Robert) Hietanen, Andrew Duncan, Ryan Harrison, Heather (Jay) Harrison, Tanner (Kelly) Hobson, Noah (Liz) Hobson and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Floyd loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was involved in youth and men’s ministry and Sunday School class. He loved airplanes and was for years involved with building and flying radio controlled planes with his family and friends. He also loved spending time in his shop building and crafting many woodworking projects. Traveling was also an important part of his life and, with his wife, visited nearly every state in America. Floyd graduated from UT in 1960. He began his career in Florida at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft before returning to Tennessee to work at Y12 and K25 until retirement. He continued to work as a part-time contract consultant for several years following his retirement. Floyd was a wonderful Christian example to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all of us. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Wednesday at Weaver Funeral Home with a service to follow at 7 pm. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Thursday at Berry Highland West Cemetery for an 11 am interment. Condolences may be left at www.weaverfuneralservices.com.
