

Burkhart, Fred McDonald (Babe) age 89 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church. He owned and operated Burkhart’s Exxon in East Knoxville for over 30 years, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons and a World War II Army Veteran in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Preceded in death by parents, Clabe McDonald and Lottie Jane Burkhart; beloved wife of 50 years, Helen (Mays) Burkhart; brother, Clifford (Buck) Burkhart; sisters, Viola McCarty and Edith Scandlyn. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Terrell and Carolyn, Freddy and Connie, Jeff and Jean and Tim and Tracey Burkhart; grandchildren, Brent (Kelly), Ashley, Corey, Ryan (Andrea), Cody (Kristin) Wes and Catlin Burkhart; great grandchildren, Marcus, Baylee, Cason, Isabella and Archer; several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway from 5:00-7:00 pm with the service to follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Bruce Yates officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be Merwin Borders’ Sunday School Class.
