George Julius Clevenger Sr.

George J. Clevenger, Sr., age 68, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Rockford. George retired from the University of Tennessee with over 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the South Knoxville Masonic Lodge and was a past master. His sense of humor and his comical actions will be missed. George was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Libby) Clevenger and brothers Charles and Robert Clevenger. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law George and Marsha Clevenger; granddaughters Cassidy and Keeley Clevenger; sister and brother-in-law Wilma and Bill Hobbs; cousin Kenny Clevenger; nephews William and Michael Clevenger. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway with the funeral to follow at 6:00 pm.
