George "Wayne" Dewayne Hubbard Sr.

George Dewayne Hubbard Sr. passed away at his home January 15, 2025 at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Wilma Oxendine; parents Benjamin Franklin and Ada Lucille (Romines) Hubbard; daughter Lori, granddaughter Leslie, and siblings Benny, Pat, Don, Betty Jean, Barbara Ann. He leaves behind his son George Jr and daughter Charaity (David Daily), three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren who will never get to hear his stories about his adventurous life.

George retired from the Knoxville News Sentinel where he worked as a pressman for over thirty years. He enjoyed bluegrass music, playing the guitar and camping. He loved being outdoors and could usually be found on the front porch of his home offering a friendly wave to all who drove by. If you knew him and happen to drive past his house on Island Home, be sure to give a wave in honor of his memory.

A visitation for Wayne will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and funeral service following at 2:00 PM, at at Berry Highland South, 9010 Simpson Rd, KNOXVILLE, TN 37920. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM, at Berry Highland South, 9010 E Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920.
