Glenna Lou Ownby, age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Harlan, Kentucky, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior on September 17, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and sister-in-law. Glenna enjoyed many hobbies, but especially loved cooking and baking, as well as sewing and crocheting. She worked for many years as the food manager in the cafeteria/grill at Kmart. She was also a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, Garnie and Ina Johnson; her first husband, Johnny Satterfield; her beloved husband, Cecil L. Ownby; and her son-in-law, Steve Miracle. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ernest and Jackie Shell, Betty and Buddy Estes, Bobbie and Marvin Meyers, Faye and Arnold Lewis, Garnie Johnson, Pat Johnson, Virgil Johnson, Bill and Sheila Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Tammy and David Knight, Carol Miracle, and Cecil E. and Lisa Ownby, who loved her very much. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dewayne Perry, April and Ron Wireman, Travis Perry, Ryan Perry, Kelly and Jon Simonian, Krista and Mikey Shaffer, Aaron Ownby, and Mikayla Loo; her great-grandchildren, Veronica Wireman, Kinley Perry, Kaya Perry, Link Shaffer, and Leo Shaffer; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the many special people who cared for Glenna during the last years of her life, especially the staff and care teams at Pinnacle Assisted Living and UT Hospice. The family’s gratitude to these individuals is immeasurable. They would also like to extend a special thank-you to all of Glenna’s friends at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church for their love, prayers, and support throughout her health journey over the years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Whispering Waters Pavilion, followed by interment at 3:00 p.m. at the cemetery. The service will be officiated by Kent Williams.
Glenna’s life was one of love, devotion, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
