Gloria Leah Montalbano Hudson, age 71, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Originally from New Orleans Gloria grew up the oldest of 7 children where she was often described as the encourager and caretaker for her brothers and sisters. She led with a gentle steadfast heart, dimples and a beautiful smile. She graduated from St. Scholastica Academy and then headed to college at LSU where she became involved in Campus Crusade for Christ. After this she became a passionate bible student and spent time at Moody Bible Institute. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychiatry and a minor in music. Gloria met her husband Charles at the small bible church that met in her father’s medical office. They had known each other for two months and got engaged. She and Charles went on to be married for 48 years welcoming three children and most wonderfully six grandchildren. Later in life Gloria obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing and went on to work as a Medical/surgical nurse for 10 years. She continued to be a very active member in her church and community. She most recently has been able to enjoy her role as a grandmother.
Gloria’s journey with cancer went on for nine years. During her battle with this terminal illness, she encouraged others in her shoes to have an attitude of gratitude, sense of humor and maintain the self-disciplines of life. Gloria had not only significant external beauty but most notably a genuine, kind, thoughtful, honest and selfless spirit. Her smile, voice of reason, encouraging words and sincere thank yous will be missed here on earth. We are beyond thankful for the blessed assurance that we will see her again in heaven.
Gloria is preceded by her parents, Dr. Roy Michael and Gloria Marphis Montalbano; brother, Nicholas Carl Montalbano. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her husband, Charles Clark Hudson; children, Timothy Charles Hudson, Andrew Michael Hudson, Samantha Hudson Purnell; grandchildren, Hunter Charles Hudson, Samuel Joseph Hudson, Hudson James Purnell, Zoe Jean Purnell, Eleanor Joy Hudson, Benjamin Clark Hudson.
A celebration of life for Gloria will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 12:00pm with a reception to follow at 12:30pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. Please consider a donation in Gloria's honor to West Park Baptist in Knoxville, TN.
