

Gordon L. Ford, age 90, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home. He celebrated his 90th birthday on March 11th surrounded by family and friends who enjoyed the delicious food provided by Holly's Eventful Dining and Magpie's. He was a charter member, ordained elder and deacon of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. He sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, youth advisor, active in The Knoxville Presbytery and a founder of the original FISH Organization of Knoxville. Graduate, Civil Engineer, from University of Tennessee and design engineer at TVA for 31 years. After retiring from TVA, he decommissioned the Clinch Breeder Reactor, started waste audits through TVA and UT. Employed by Stanley Consultants, Muscatine, Iowa. In Amman and Irbid, Jordan, he was involved in water treatment and nine pumping stations at Egor Canal. In Sana'a, Yemen, over saw the construction of agricultural school. Gordon finally hung up his licensed engineering career in 1983. As members of Friendship Force International, he and Laura traveled extensively worldwide. Gordon was a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville, where he and his wife are presently members.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward T. and Ida Ford; son, Edward Douglas Ford; sister, Jerry Ford Booker; son in-law, Kenneth Eddleman.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Laura R. Ford; son, David L. (Georgia) Ford; daughter, Mary Carol Eddleman; grandchildren, Greg Ford, Rachel and Kaila Eddleman; brother in-law, Ben L. Booker; sisters in- law, Barbara Roseborough, Marian R. Smith, and many nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville, 620 State Street, Knoxville, Tennessee 37902, at 1:00pm with reception to follow. Family and friends may sign the guestbook at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
