Born on November 27, 1961, Gregory lived a life defined by kindness, patience, strength, and an unwavering love for the people he held dear.
Gregory was a devoted father whose guidance, encouragement, and steady wisdom shaped the lives of those around him. He was a proud grandfather to Greyson Floyd, who brought him tremendous joy and pride. One of Gregory’s greatest treasures was the time spent with his son, Eric, creating lasting memories together on the Clinch River, especially the many nights spent fishing for big brown trout beneath the stars. An avid fly fisherman and passionate deer hunter, Gregory found peace and happiness outdoors, where he felt most at home.
Known for his patient spirit and willingness to help anyone in need, Gregory was a teacher and mentor by nature. Whether offering sound advice during difficult times or sharing his knowledge with others, he made people feel supported and valued. He was also an incredible softball player whose competitive spirit and love for the game left a lasting impression on teammates and friends alike.
Gregory shared 16 years of marriage with Kim, and though life eventually led them down separate paths, she always held a special place in his heart. His family takes comfort in the enduring love and respect they continued to share through the years.
He was a beloved brother to Shawn Floyd and was lovingly cared for in his final days by his devoted companion, Brenda Cleveland, whose compassion and care brought him comfort and peace.
Even in passing, Gregory’s generosity continued to touch lives. Through organ donation, he was able to save the life of a woman, a final act of selflessness that reflected the caring and giving person he always was.
Gregory will be remembered for his quiet strength, his generous heart, his love of family, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the stories shared beside rivers, in the lessons he taught through patience and love, and in the lives forever changed by his kindness.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
