OBITUARY
Gregory "Greg" C. Snyder
December 22, 1942 – February 12, 2021
Gregory C. Snyder "Greg", age 78, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 12, 2021 surrounded by family. He was a 1960 graduate of Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy. Greg went to Castle Heights Military Academy. He entered into the Marine Corps in 1962. Greg was a member of The National Marines Baseball Team. Upon his completion of service, Greg attended the University of Tennessee. He played for Bill Wright on the UT baseball team. Greg played several seasons with the Knoxville Bears Football Team. He was a mentor to several youth through coaching football in South Knoxville. He comprised a record of 84 - 2 over 8 years. Greg loved spending time with his family and grandkids, known as "Big Daddy".
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayman and Mary Snyder; and brother, Timmy Snyder.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandy Pease Snyder; son, Shawn Snyder (Amanda); daughter, Shannon Reeves; grandchildren, Aiden Snyder, Madison Reeves, Gavon Reeves and Brenley Snyder; sister, Cheryl McClure (Harry).
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Cox and his staff for their care and friendship, also the wonderful staff with UT Hospice and their nurses who are "Angels".
Family will receive friends, Wednesday February 17, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, Tennessee. Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 for a 2:00 PM graveside service. Full military honors provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorials be made in Greg's honor to Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR), 11800 US-11 East, Lenoir City, TN 37772.

Sandy, Shawn and Shannon, my love and tears go up for you all tonight. Greg was one of the finest men I ever had the honor to know. I'll never forget the encouragement he always had for me before and after football games in high school. He will be missed. The world has lost a great man.
