Harold Fay Allister, age 87, of Lenoir City, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024. He's passed after a courageous fight against cancer while surrounded by his loved ones. Harold was born in 1936 in Dallas, Oregon to Fay Leon Allister and ary Hiebert. By the time he was nine years old, Harold was earning 50 cents a day working in Oregon's apple orchards and learning how to drive. His family constantly moved to find work. He attended high school at Salem Academy in Dallas and became the first person in the Allister family to graduate from high school.
After high school he joined the Navy Reserves. In 1955 he married his sweetheart, Janet Classen, and became active duty. Harold and Janet moved to San Diego soon after their wedding, kicking off life of adventure and service.By the end of his career, Harold had been an encyclopedia salesman , a San Diego police officer, a California Highway patrolman and a driver's education instructor.
In addition to being a public servant, Harold was a devout Christian who was a devoted member of several congregations over his lifetime. he served as a deacon at a church he helped to start and later served in the Shadow Mountain Community church prison ministry.
Harold is survived by three children, Shawna, Lance and Devin; seven grandchildren, J.R., Chad, Devin Jr., Gabriella, Seth, Raegan and Dylan; six great grandchildren, Mia, Sydney, Addison, Braverman, Brooklyn and Aspynn.
A celebration of life for Harold will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11am at First Baptist Church, 2085 Simpson Road, Lenoir City, TN 37772.
