Helen Day Loope, age 91 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at her beloved home on July 14, 2023. She was a woman of great faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and was deeply loved by her friends and family. She was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South). She graduated from Bearden High School, and was a longtime employee of the South Knoxville White Stores, and Norwood Branch of the Fountain City Bank. In retirement, Helen worked seasonally with the University of Tennessee Student Registration. She and husband Calvin especially loved traveling after their retirement. Helen loved spending time with family, especially her "granddog" Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Calvin O. Loope, mother Georgia Day, grandson Ian Michael Loope, brothers Calvin Day and Ben Day, sister Arietta Langston Harkleroad, daughter in law Susie Freshour Loope, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She is survived by sons Stephen Loope (Juanita); Michael Loope (Stacy); grandsons Christopher Loope and Tyler Loope; step-grandsons Jordon Shuler and Blake Shuler (Kaylan), great grandsons Bryson Shuler, Landon Hill and Carson Shuler, and grand dog Charlotte, and host of other beloved family members, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 17, 2023 between the hours of 5 PM and 7 PM in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 7 PM. Rev Kirby Ownby officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa for a 11 AM Interment Service. Pallbearers will be Tyler Loope, Jordon Shuler, Blake Shuler, Bryson Shuler, David Freshour and Larry Freshour.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike Knoxville, TN 37920.
