Helen Moffett

Helen Moffett, age 96 of Strawberry Plains, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2017. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Adcock. Mrs. Moffett was a 1940 graduate of Carter High School as well as a graduate of Carson Newman. She retired after 35 years as a teacher at Carter Elementary School. She was the oldest member of Thorn Grove Christian Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Cowan; second husband, Walt Palmer and her third husband, Charlie Moffett; and ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include her sons, Tommy and Greg Cowan along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to send special thanks to her caregivers: Sheri, Monika, Shellie and Angie. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5-7pm at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am in Thorn Grove Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the gravesite by 10:45 am for the service.
