Henry Francis "Bud" Scates - 86 of the Karns Community born March 17, 1930, passed away February 19, 2017 at his home. He was a member of Solway Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Minnie Scates; sisters, Lucille Burgess and Marie Scates; brother, Frank Scates. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pearl Scates; son, Gerald Scates; daughter, Marlene (Tom) Dotson'; grandchildren, Melissa (Shannon) Stone, Daniel Dotson, Derick (Andrea) Dotson, Nicole (Dan) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Whitney Stone, Kyleigh Stone, Caleb Nelson, Ethan Nelson and Taylor Nelson; sisters, Helen Hackney, Ruth Scates, Emogene Edgmon, and Mary Ann Wilson and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Covenant Hospice nurses, Deborah, Diane and Ashley and Chaplain Ernie for their special care. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Wednesday at Solway Baptist Church with service to follow at 7 pm. Reverands Rob Buchanan and Shannon Stone officiating.
