

WAGGONER, HENRY GIBSON, JR. - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at his home. He was a member of Redemption Church International where he served as an Elder. He was a minister of the gospel, for 56 years. Henry and his wife, and the Waggoner Family sang on the radio on the Amazing Grace Hour and participated in many gospel singings for over 30 years. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran, of WW II flying the B17 and B26 in 61 missions. Henry also kept a daily journal for years writing scriptures and sermons. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Edna Lowe Waggoner. Survived by his loving wife, of 56 years, Shirley Campbell Waggoner; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Greg Jackson and Robyn and Scott Johnstone; grandchildren, Annie and husband, Jason Smith, Ashley Jackson, Ian Johnstone, Seth Johnstone and McKenzie Johnstone; great-granddaughter, Emily Smith; brothers, Jim and Wes Waggoner; sister, Becky Barbour; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Stacey and Vance Breeden, Kreis and Darlene Weigel and Doris Kennedy. A special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Thompson Cancer Center, Dr. Alan Grossman and his staff and caregivers at Redemption Church International. The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Tuesday at Redemption Church International with the service to follow at 8 pm.
